Abstract

The objective of this study was to propose a prevention, treatment procedure for oviduct fluke disease in duck. In order to prevent effectively oviduct fluke disease in duck, duck feces and floor litter were collected; gather for thermobiological treatment together with farm disinfection to kill the fluke eggs by iodine 2% or cloramin B 1.25% (1L of solution sprayed for 10-12 m2 of duck house floor) was applied. Two drugs could be used for oviduct fluke disease prevention effectively, such as: fenbendazole (16 mg/kg body weight) or praziquantel (10 mg/kg body weight), with a single dose, applying for duck at 5 weeks old (for duck raised for meat); 5 weeks, 2 months and 6 months old (for egg laying duck). After that it was done periodically twice per year. The oviduct fluke diseased ducks could be treated effectively by fenbendazole (16 mg/kg body weight) or praziquantel (10 mg/kg body weight), with 2 doses (24 hrs. between two doses). The oviduct fluke caused severe inflammation in ovary and fabricius, so treatment procedure should be combined with using antibiotics to avoid inflammation and to improve disease resistance of duck.
