Abstract

Study on some epidemiological characteristics of fasciolosis in cattle herds raising in Ha Giang province was carried out through autopsy and testing cattle feces. The studied results showed that cattle raising at 3 districts in Ha Giang province were infected with liver fluke (species: F. Gigantica).
The rate of cattle infecting with liver fluke through autopsy was 38.44%, the infection intensity was 3 to 61 flukes per cattle, and through testing feces was 43.88%, ranging from 42.82 to 45.21%. The cattle were mainly infected with liver fluke in mild and moderate intensity. The rate of cattle
infecting with liver fluke was highest in the summer (57.09%), followed by the autumn (45.81%) and the lowest rate was in the spring (31.79%). The infection rate and intensity of this disease increased in accordance with the cattle ages. The cattle under 2 years old was infected with liver
fluke at the lowest rate that was 31.65%; while the cattle over 8 years old were infected with liver fluke with the highest rate (64.29%). The infection and intensity of fasciolosis in cattle varied in different husbandry methods. In the captive rearing method, the rate of cattle infecting with liver
fluke was lowest (22.89%), followed by the semi-grazing method (46.27%) and the free grazing method (52.18%). The deworming medicines of albendazol, nitroxinil - 25, with a dose of 10mg/kg B.W. and triclabendazole with a dose of 12 mg/ kg B.W. was effective up to 100% of recovery cattle; all of 3 medicines were safe for cattle
