Abstract

The result of study on safety index and immune response of the pigs vaccinated with the type O and A, bivalent, oil emulsion and aluminum hydroxide gel, inactivated FMD vaccines showed that both vaccines were safe during the monitoring time after vaccination (p.v), there was not different in the body temperature between the experimental and the control pigs and all the pigs did not appear clinical signs of FMD. However, the immune response of the pigs injected with type O and A, bivalent, oil emulsion, inactivated, FMD vaccine (L2-ND group) was stronger than that of the pigs injected with the type O and A, bivalent, aluminum hydroxide gel, inactivated, FMD vaccine (L2-KP group), antibody titer (Ab) was different (P <0.05). For the L2-ND pig group, the specific Ab increased steadily. At 56 days of p.v, the neutralizing antibody titer for type A virus was 2.26 ± 0.11; for type O virus was 2.49 ± 0.25 and ELISA titer for type A virus was 2.35 ± 0.13 and for type O virus was 2.52 ± 0.16. Antibody response continued for about 6 months of p.v. Meanwhile, for the L2-KP pig group, the highest Ab was at 42 days of p.v; for type A and O virus was 1.71 ± 0.13 and 1.74 ± 0.08, respectively; ELISA titer for type A and O virus was 1.86 ± 0.17 and 1.86 ± 0.09, respectively. However, the Ab titer decreased during the monitoring time of p.v in the pig group vaccinated with the type O and A, bivalent, aluminum hydroxide gel, inactivated, FMD vaccine. Therefore,
it is recommended that the type O and A, bivalent, oil emulsion, inactivated, FMD vaccine should be used and the second dose of this vaccine should be injected after 6 months; the type O and A, bivalent, aluminum hydroxide gel, inactivated, FMD vaccine will not use for pigs.
