The situation of Canine distemper virus infection in dogs brought to examination and treatment at the NPET Veterinary Clinic at 21 Nguyen Co Thach street, Ha Noi

Abstract

The result of examining 235 sick dogs brought to the clinic veterinary Npet, 21 Nguyen Co
Thach street, Ha Noi City showed that there were 50 dogs suffering from canine distemper disease
(accounting for 21.28%). The typical symptoms of the infected dogs were: fever, fatigue, loss of
appetite and not eating (100%); watery eyes, runny nose (96.00%); eye conjunctivitis and coffeecolored diarrhea (90.00%); other symptoms such as vomiting, vomiting greenish-yellow viscous
foam; coughing, difficult breathing; on the body appeared papules on the skin and keratosis of the
soles of the feet and some dogs showed neurological symptoms, accounting for 8.00% to 70.00%.
The hybrid dogs infected with higher rate of disease (46.81%) than the indigenous dogs (28.85%)
and the exotic dogs (9.56%). The rate of dogs infected with canine distemper disease in the period of
6 weeks old to 6 months old was the highest (23.43%); over 12 months old was the lowest (13.33%).
