Applying rapid identification method for serotyping of African swine fever virus isolated in Viet Nam

Abstract

In 2021, NIVR has succeeded in the development of new method for rapid identification of ASFV serotypes based on EP402R gene sequence encoding CD2v protein. The studied results have been published in an international veterinary journal. In this study, we applied the rapid identification
method based on the sequence 90-nucleotide of EP402R gene encoding CD2v protein which was published previously for determining successfully 8 serological groups of ASFV that isolated at 7 agro-ecological zones in Viet Nam. The phylogenetic analysis of the short fragment sequence
(90-nucleotides) of the EP402R gene showed that there was the high similarity level when comparison with the previous method using a long fragment (816-nucleotides) of this gene and the well-known serotype references based on haemadsorption inhibition (HAI) assay.
