Abstract

The present study was conducted through surveying 385 households with 1,234 breeding beef cattle in 4 districts of Tien Giang province. The investigated results showed that the two popular cattle breeds raising in the province were Red Angus hybrid cattle (26.50%) and Sind hybrid cattle (24.64%), of which the cow number from 2-4 parities accounted for the highest rate (49.76%). The prevalence of reproductive diseases in beef cows was 21.39%, in which dystocia accounted for the highest rate at 8.99%. Moreover, amongst the cows suffering with reproductive diseases, the Sind
hybrid cows accounted for the high rate (24.43%), followed by the Brahman hybrid cows (22.31%) and the lowest rate was local cows (17.91%). In addition, the prevalence of reproductive diseases in the heifers and the cows at first parity was less common compared to the other parity cow groups. These studied results are the basis for conducting further studies to improve the prevention and treatment of the reproductive diseases in beef cows in Tien Giang province
