Investigation on diarrhea syndrome in cattle and veterinary hygiene in Ben Tre province
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the diarrhea syndrome in the cattle during the period 2018–2020 and veterinary hygiene in the households in Ben Tre province following the retrospective study and cross-sectional investigation methods. In the present cross-sectional investigation, there were 100 cattle households in the whole province that were randomly chosen for interviews on
the veterinary hygiene and diarrhea syndrome in the cattle using a structured questionnaire. The investigation results revealed that diarrhea syndrome popularly appeared in cattle of the whole province with the high infection and mortality rate during the period from 2018–2020. The local households had knowledge, interested in diarrhea syndrome in cattle and the veterinary hygiene practice, however, the biosafety practice in husbandry was still limited. The households used
antibiotics as an essential measure in disease treatment. Some of the popular antibiotics used in local treatment were tylosin, amoxicillin and cefotaxim.
