Abstract

The study was carried out on 72 pool tissue samples (liver, heart and lung) of aborted fetuses of 28 sows collected from 3 provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Lam Dong. PCV3-positive samples were evaluated for co-infection with PCV2, PPV and PRRSV by PCR or RT-PCR technique. The studied results showed that PCV3 was present in all 3 types of liver, heart and lung tissue samples. The percentage of aborted sows with PCV3-positive was 25% (7/28). Analysis of PCV3 co-infection with PCV2, PRRSV, PPV showed that there was only single viral co-infection, PCV3 co-infected with either PCV2 (23.53%) or PRRSV (29.41%), and there was no case of co-infection with PPV. The presence of PCV3 was recorded in the aborted fetuses of all 3 provinces: Dong Nai, Binh Duong and
Lam Dong, in which the highest positive sample rate with PCV3 was in aborted fetuses originating from the sows in Dong Nai (with 5/7 sows), in Binh Duong and Lam Dong with 1/7 sows for each province. The research results were the first to detect PCV3 in aborted fetus, meaning that PCV3
was circulating in the sow herd in southern provinces and transmitted through the fetus. This may be a risk of reproductive disorders in the sows and needs to be further studied to clarify.
