Abstract

The study was conducted to diagnose leukopenia caused by Feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) in cats at a veterinary clinic in Ho Chi Minh City from March 2021 to June 2021. The result of clinical examination revealed that there were 309 cases suspected with FPV. Using the Asan Easy Test FPV rapid test for diagnosing 51 cats, as a result 43 cats were infected with leukopenia, accounting for 84.3%. The factors affecting the infection rate included: incorrect and not enough vaccination lead to the highest risk with disease (86.05%) and the cats at 1 to 6 months old suffered with higher infection rate (67.44%) than other cat age groups. There were no statistically significant differences among the cat groups regarding the
factors, such as: kind of feed, raising method, sex or breed to the infection rate. The clinical symptoms having significance in the diagnosis included: fever (39.5 - 40.50C), vomiting white foam or yellow fluid repeated, diarrhea with turbid, yellow stools, sometimes with mucus or fishy odor.
