Abstract

Tembusu disease has been reported in Viet Nam since 2019 (Dang Huu Anh et al., 2020). In this study, the virus causing tembusu disease in ducks was isolated and identified for some biological properties. The virus multiplied on 10-day old duck embryos causing hemorrhage and embryo death.
42-day old ducks was infected experimentally with tembusu virus. As a result, the infected ducks were suffered with several typical symptoms, such as: anorexia, stop eating, body temperature in most of the infected ducks was higher than in the healthy ducks, diarrhea with wet and white feces,
slow walking, nerval symptom appeared, such as: slow and unsteady walking, lying on their backs, paralyzed legs, some ducks died. The result of sequencing the NS5B gene fragment showed that virus strains TMUV 01 and TMUV 08 belonged to genotype of virus isolated in Thailand.
