Letter exchange on the Nam Quan - Bac Kinh journey of Tay Son diplomatic delegation

Abstract

    King Quang Trung’s journey to wish King Qianlong longevity has not been thoroughly examined until now. This is partially due to the fact that this historical period went unnoticed
for hundreds of years following the end of the Tay Son dynasty and was only revived when the
influence of the Hue court declined.
      People have not still glorified foreign conquests under the Tay Son dynasty without
acknowledging the diplomatic achievements of the period, nevertheless. There was almost no
trace of King Quang Trung’s journey. Any discussion about this issue was regarded as nothing
more honorable than a ruse to deceive the Qing Dynasty.
     In this article, some abnormalities of this period by providing a few letters that King Quang
Trung sent back to China and the Tay Son dynasty sent there are indicated.
