FORMS OF ADDRESS IN THE REALITY TELEVISION PROGRAM "CALL ME BY FIRE"

Abstract

Forms of address are always a prioritized choice in Vietnamese communication.
Changes in emotional stance or attitude, as reflected in the use of address terms or the use of particular forms of address toward specific interlocutors-partially indicate the social and emotional relationships between them. In interactions between two individuals, the choice of address depends entirely on their attitude, context, feelings, relationship, and communicative purpose. This study focuses on examining the use of kinship terms in familial relationships within ordinary social contexts, thereby providing a basis for a general analysis of the pragmatic functions expressed by kinship-based forms of address when applied in non-familial communication.
