COMPARISON OF FINES IN VIETNAMESE CRIMINAL LAW WITH SOME COUNTRIES’ CRIMINAL LAW IN THE WORLD

Abstract

The provisions on sanctions in general and monetary fines in each country's Penal Code clearly express criminal policies and viewpoints on criminal responsibility for offenders. In the process of perfecting the provisions of the Penal Code to meet the requirements of judicial reform, the comparative studies on sanctions and fines aims to find out legislative experiences that could be learned from other countries. In this article, the author selects the provisions on fines in the Penal Code of some countries which are representatives of typical legal systems such as the United States, the German Federation, China, and Iraq as the comparison objects. Based on the results of comparative research, the author proposed some recommendations to amend the Vietnamese Penal Code on fines.
