INTERNATIONAL LAW AND LAWS OF SOME COUNTRIES ON ACCEPTANCE OF REFUGEES - SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VIETNAM

Abstract

Faced with the situation that the flow of refugees has exploded in many parts of the world and is inclined to increase sharply in recent years, many countries around the world have established a legal framework to regulate the refugee issue. This is the reason why the author chose the topic of receiving refugees to research. The author hopes that this article can contribute as references for Vietnam in developing law on receiving refugees. To achieve the above goals, the article will address the following main issues: (1) Some general theorical issues on refugee reception; (2) International law and the law of some countries on the reception of refugees; (3) Vietnam's law on refugee reception and some suggestions for Vietnam when developing law on refugee reception.

In order to clarify these issues, the author puts refugee issues in relation to each other, not studying them separately and compares regulations of countries on this issue. A number of methods are used, such as historical methods to understand the concept of refugees and the history of refugee reception in Vietnam, the comparative method is used to compare the legislations on refugee admission of countries around the world, and finally the analytical-synthetic method is applied throughout the topic. The author integrates analysis and synthesis to draw conclusions for the purpose of providing experience for the law on receiving refugees in Vietnam.
