Enhancing past literature values through achievements of the faculty of literature research

Abstract

Enlarging assessment criteria in the process of

inheriting the past literature treasure, which is

meant to replace the partially limited ones due to

historical rules, is a crucial achievement of the

faculty of literature research in the renewal period.

Added to the patriotism and heroism remarkably

covered in the literature of national history is the

humanism, to which more attention is drawn as of

its significant multi-facets. Human elements are not

only studied through national and class

characteristics, but they are now also attentively

investigated and exploited through universal and

individual characteristics. Renewal is a repeated

demand for Reform initiated by Confucian scholars

in the early twentieth century. It is also a

continuance of achievements recorded in the

modernization of national literature and studies,

which encompasses various tendencies and

movements, including the romance after a long

process under criticism or denial. Generally

speaking, the value boundaries of the past literature

including the middle-aged literature, modern

literature in the eve of 1945, and literature of

Southern municipal areas during the period of 1954-

1975 have been expanded for new entries.
