For a high-quality literature theory-critique

Abstract

The book is a collection of essays written recently by Associate Prof. and Dr. Nguyen Van Dan, which focus on some key issues of literature theory and critique. These issues include:- Defining “theory”, “history” and “literature critique” concepts;- Interlink between literature and politics;
- Relationship between literature and reality;
- Are realism and socialist realism authentic values or composing methods?
- The necessity to adopt a literature research methodology;
- Historical literature methodology;
- The development of comparative literature subject in Vietnam;
- The issue of whether or not the existence of a post-modernism literature;
- Literature translation as an issue of literature theory.
Additionally, the author also introduced two rather new methods in literature research: cultural studies and statistics. Generally, the key idea of the work was that theory and critique are supplementary one to another in order to improve the quality of these both research areas.
