Impacts of WTO admission on economic, social and cultural rights of women

Abstract

The World Trade Organization’s membership
(WTO) exerts about both positive and non-positive
impacts on Vietnam. The fulfillment of human rights
is certainly affected in this context. Many studies
have proved that women are the most vulnerable
persons in all fields. This paper attempts to highlight
impacts of Vietnam’s admission to WTO on the
fulfillment of economic, social and cultural rights of
women in Vietnam after having discussed economic,
social and cultural benefits and challenges to the
entire society in general and women in particular.
Having analyzed the real situation of specific fields,
the author made conclusions and recommendations
to the Government, relevant ministries, sectors and
organizations with a view to contributing to ensuring
the rights and interests of women and the society at
large.
