Preservation and promotion of traditional culture of tribes in the Central Highland

Abstract

The Central Highland in past and now has been always the converging point of migration, a place for cultural exchange between tribes who along with the culture of the Central Highland present a colorful carpet, potentially containing a rich and magnificent treasure of folk culture. Thus, it is considered the unique epic region in Vietnam and a rarely invaluable epic region in the world alike. Multi-faceted impacts, both positive and negative, can be seen driving from cultural exchange and influence by internal tribes in the Central Highland and the outside world in the new context of the country and the world. Hence, preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of tribes in the Central Highland in the current period in Vietnam is of substantial importance.

The article attempts to clarify the following three contents: 1/ the Central Highland is a location characterized by rich and unique folk culture in Vietnam; 2/ tendencies of Central Highland cultural change; and 3/ some issues related to the preservation and promotion of traditional culture of tribes in the Central Highland.
