Kyoto, Nara: Some experience for Huế to preserve and develop ancient capital

Abstract

Kyoto vand Nara (ancient capital of Japan) are areas with famous deep culture and history. Over thousands of years, Nara is still an ancient capital, Kyoto is still an ancient city of Japan and also an absolutely modern city. Practical survey in Kyoto and Nara, the author find out some experience in preserving and developing these ancient capitals for the case of Huế (ancient capital of Vietnam), as following:

- Pay attention to history, traditional, cultural characteristics, consider ancient capital culture is profitable resource but does not much focus on direct profit. 

- Pay attention to science research or develop academic center in ancient capital especially prestige and qualified centers.

- Although pay attention to preservation, ancient capital must have modern transportation system.

- For Nara, the first ancient capital of Japan (built from 710 until 793) the preservation is highlighted to keep its like the beginning.
