Cultural development and Vietnamese people in the context of globalization and world economic crisis

Abstract

The article analyzed and highlighted issues relating to cultural development and Vietnamese people in the context of globalization and world economic crisis. In the new period, according to the author, opportunities and challenges are intertwined, at the same time intricate issues and aspects that have emerged need to be analyzed and scrutinized from both theoretical perspective and practical review. Having analyzed the on-going world economic crisis and new aspects of knowledge-based and cultural economy, the author drew out novel viewpoints on cultural development, people and nation, emphasizing the need: 1/ to be more adequately aware of culture and its role to development of Vietnamese people and nation; 2/ to raise awareness of the role to be played by culture as  “a filter”, “a safety brake” and “a valve” for people in the economic and business activities; 3/ to implement policies that prioritize the interests of the nation, the country in a globalized world.
