Study on extraction of astilbin and emodin from GK1 remedy for for treatment of choronic kidney diseases

Abstract

As GK1 remedy for treatment of choronic renal  disorders prove remarkabley effective, astilbin, emodin as its main actives prove good kidney-protective value, … astilbin in the rhizomes Smilax Glabra (Rhizoma Smilacis glabrae) and emodin in Rheum Palmatum (Rhizoma Rhei) were selected as the markers in investigation of GK1 remedy extraction. With special regard to both astilbin and emodin, the extraction were optomized and established as: Ethanol 50 %; molar ratio of solvent/material - 5/1.15; temperature - 70 ºC; extraction duration - 30 mins; extraction times - 2. The extraction yield was 94.86 ± 4.44 % for astilbin and 62.61 ± 2.70 % for emodin.
