THE OTHER ASPECTS OF THE EARTH GOD ON THE BLUE-AND-WHITE CERAMIC OF EARLY LE DYNASTY

Abstract

According to Vietnamese beliefs, the Earth god is the protector of fruit trees and crops, representing agriculture, and the god who looks after money, gold and silver. This is also a mark of the economic and commercial era. That reverence and desire for abundance and wealth has raised the natural elements and the images that are easily associated with that wealth into a god in the form of a human god, to worship, to pray for complete well-being for the material life of man. In trading activities, merchants worship the earth god to pray for fortune, trade and best selling.
