Abstract

South Central Coast region from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, with the natural environment of the sea and islands predominating. A part of Vietnamese people who have come to the South Central Coast have chosen the sea, facing the sea to make a living and formed unique marine cultural nuances. Therefore, the sea element is an outstanding mark, reflected in many cultural aspects of Vietnamese people here, including religion. In the religious picture that is both diverse and specific for Vietnamese people here, Buddhism, especially Guan Yin Guan Yin and St. Simon Peter in Catholicism are unique beliefs and rituals. These religions and festivals are closely linked to the livelihood activities at sea, strongly affecting the spiritual life of the people living in the South Central Coast.
