Abstract

The birth of cinema has had many impacts on society in general and the arts in particular. In this article, we would like to explore the impact of cinema on literature through the case study of Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita. Through analysis, we found that cinematicity appeared on many poetic and narrative levels of works such as theme, structure, storyteller, point of view, space... This novel does not only borrow cinematic techniques (cinematographic language) but also using the way of cinematic thinking (cinematographic aesthetics) and the way the cinema affects the audience (the social function of cinema) to become one the most complex and controversial works of the twentieth century.
