A giant mediastinal mixed germ cell tumors: A literature review and case report

Abstract

Germ cell tumors are neoplasms that are derived from primordial reproductive cells. But tumors might develop in other parts of the body such as retroperitoneum, suprasella areas, pineal, mediastinum,… called extragonadal germ cell tumors in which the anterior mediastinum is the most site. It can be a benign or malignant tumor. We report a case of a huge anterior mediastinal mixed germ cell tumor detected by chest X-ray and computed tomography, treated with surgery and chemotherapy and definitive diagnosis by histopathology and immunohistochemical staining.
