The impact of factors on tourists’ destination choice: a case study of Tan Trieu Islet
Abstract
This study aims to identify and measure the factors influencing domestic tourists’
decisions to select Tan Trieu Islet, Dong Nai Province, as a travel destination, thereby
proposing managerial implications aligned with the new context of tourism development.
A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative research (expert group
discussions) and quantitative research (a survey of 389 domestic tourists) to validate
the model. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 through descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s
Alpha reliability testing, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and multiple linear regression
analysis. The findings reveal that several factors exert a positive influence on destination
choice, including destination information, safety, travel motivation, reasonable service
prices, infrastructure, recreational activities, and destination image. Among these,
destination information and safety emerge as the most influential factors. Based on these results, the study proposes policy implications focusing on developing multi-channel
information strategies, strengthening safety foundations, enhancing overall experiential
value, and aligning with the broader tourism development strategy of Dong Nai Province.
