Applying Friedrich Engels’ educational thought to contemporary Vietnamese education

Abstract

From the standpoint that education is a means of human liberation, which must
be closely linked with labor, theory, and practice, and aimed at the comprehensive
development of intellect, morality, physical well-being, and creative capacity, this article
analyzes the historical value of Friedrich Engels’ educational thought for the formation
and development of socialist education, particularly in Vietnam under the inheritance and
creative application by President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party. Simultaneously,
the article elucidates the in-depth applicability of this thought for Vietnamese education
in the present context, as reflected in key orientations such as: fostering holistic human
development, integrating education with practical realities, ensuring equity in access to
education, and promoting lifelong learning within a modern learning society.
