Abstract

Thepaperemployes3DnumericalmodelingtoanalyzethesoilarchingmechanismwithinembankmentbyFLAC3Dcode,basedonthefinitedifferencemethod(FDM).Toconsiderthepilegroupeffect,the3Dmeshoffourpilehasbeencreated.Relatedtotheconstitutivemodels,theembankmentisusedMohr-Coulombmodel,thesoftsoilisrepresentedbymodifiedCam-claymodel,andfootingandpilesareemployedbyelasticitymodel.Thenumericalresultsfocusonthesoilarchingphenomenaintermsofstressdistributiononpilesandsoftsoil,thestressconcentrationratioandthestressreductionratio.Additionally,theaxialforcealongpileandthesettlementsofembankment,softsoilandpilearestudied
