Study onsomefundamental factors affecting the static liquefaction of sand
Abstract
Static liquefaction of soil is a hazardthat has caused a lot of damage to humans. Therefore, this phenomenon has been studied for a long timeover theworld, nevertheless, research on this issuein Vietnam isstill limited. This paper presentsthe results of several triaxial tests under undrainedconditions to evaluatethe influence of some fundamentalfactors on the static liquefaction of Fontainebleau sand. The results show that therelativedensity and the confiningpressure have a significantinfluence on the static liquefaction of the sand. When the densityof the sand increases, the liquefactionresistanceof the sand increases, untila certain limit, the sand changes from liquefaction behaviorto dilatancybehavior with a decrease in pore pressure and an increase in mean effective stress. When the test is carried out at different confiningpressures, the greater the confiningpressure, the higher the liquefaction resistance
