Abstract

As an existential philosopher, the point of origin in Jean Paul Sartre's philosophy is the thesis “Existence precedes nature”. With this thesis, Jean Paul Sartre affirmed human subjectivity and that humans are a free personhood, that humans are free to create and discard any available patterns. Existence is initially nothingness, human life has no meaning at all, human life only has meaning because we create it, before that there was no nature or meaning at all. However, the freedom of each individual must be placed in relation to the freedom of others when engaging. Although there are certain limitations, such as assuming that the nature of things is silent, immutable and meaningless, and not seeing the objective determination of human behavior, the thesis: “Existence comes first” Jean Paul Sartre's nature has contributed to motivating people to act, rise and stimulate creativity and responsibility for others, contributing to the study of the category of freedom on a philosophical scale
