PREVALENCE OF ANEMIA IN DIABETES OUTPATIENT AT LE VAN THINH HOSPITAL, 2023

Abstract

Cross-sectional study was conducted on 773 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at Le Van Thinh Hospital, Ho Chi Minh city to determine the prevalence rate of anemia levels and factors related to. The results showed that 126/773 patients with type 2 diabetes (accounting for 18%) were anemic with the rate of mild, moderate and severe anemia are 16.3%; 1.6% and 0.1% respectively. No relationship was found between age group, gender, high blood pressure and anemia (p>0.05). Chronic kidney disease stages 3a and 3b increase the risk of anemia compared to stage 1 with OR = 3.46 (95% CI: 2.12 - 5.65; p < 0.0001) and OR = 8.75 (95% CI: 2.26 – 33.92; p=0.002)
