Application of NFC technology in mobile payment in Vietnam- current situation and recommendations

Abstract

The mobile payment method using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology platform
began to be mentioned in the Vietnamese market around 2015 and will be widely welcomed in 2023
with the appearance of the Apple Pay application, giving customers a convenient payment experience
without needing a network connection. In this article, the author uses research methods of synthesis and
comparison focusing on clarifying the current status of NFC technology application in mobile payment
in the world and Vietnam. From there, the author makes recommendations on legal corridors, incentive
policies, scope of application, raising customer awareness of service utilities and solutions to security
issues, personal data security and transaction authentication, to facilitate further strong development of
this payment method in the Vietnamese market.
