The development of tourism in Hue City: An analysis of the current situation and policy recommendations
Abstract
Situated in Vietnam’s North Central region, Hue City is endowed with an abundant, diverse, and distinctive system of both natural and cultural tourism resources. Most prominently, the Complex of Hue Monuments and Hue Royal Court Music- recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage (tangible and intangible, respectively)- represent invaluable assets that form the foundation for the city’s tourism development. In recent years, the tourism sector in Hue City has undergone significant transformations, emerging as a key pillar of the local economy. Based on an analysis of secondary data from official reports and primary data collected through tourist surveys, this study evaluates the state of tourism development in Hue City during the 2021-2023 period. By employing a linear regression model, the paper identifies key factors influencing local tourism growth, thereby providing a scientific foundation for policy recommendations aimed at enhancing competitiveness, optimizing the efficient utilization of tourism resources, and fostering the sustainable development of Hue City's tourism sector in the long run.
