Green banking in Vietnam: Practice and recommendations

Abstract

Green banking has become financial systems that support green growth and are increasingly gaining attention in order to promote sustainable finance and facilitate environmentally friendly activities. This article focuses on clarifying Green banking and assessing the practical implementation of Green banking in Vietnamese commercial banks, including green credit, green deposits, green bond issuance and internal green initiatives. The study uses qualitative research methods through financial indicators, data is collected and processed during the 2021- 2024 period. Based on this, it proposes solutions for Vietnamese commercial banks and the State Bank of Vietnam to strengthen green banking in Vietnam in the comming years, contributing to achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Green Growth in the period of 2021- 2030, as approved by the Vietnam Government
