Impact of logistics efficiency on Vietnamese goods export to European countries
Abstract
In the context of deepening globalization and international economic integration, logistics plays a pivotal role in promoting international trade, especially for developing countries. This study aims to analyze the impact of logistics on Vietnam’s exports to member countries of the European Union (EU). Using an extended gravity model with panel data covering Vietnam and 27 EU countries from 2007 to 2022, the results show that the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) positively influences Vietnam’s export value to its EU partners, particularly after the EVFTA took effect. Among the LPI components, delivery timeliness, traceability, and lead time have the most significant impact. Additionally, the LPI has a stronger effect on exports to developed countries than to developing ones. The findings suggest policy implications including strengthening cooperation with the EU to develop logistics infrastructure, promoting technology adoption to enhance supply chain transparency, and improving the quality of export products, thereby leveraging market expansion opportunities and enhancing national competitiveness.
