Implementing ESG in Vietnam’s Plastic sector: Case studies of An Phat Xanh and Binh Minh Companies

Abstract

This study proposes solutions to promote the implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards toward sustainable development. The authors used an outcome- based approach based on ESG reports during the period 2019- 2024 in Vietnam. Through internationally recognized measurement frameworks (GRI, VNSI), the study analyzes the ESG practices of two representative plastic enterprises: An Phat Xanh Plastic Joint Stock Company (AAA) and Binh Minh Plastic Joint Stock Company (BMP). The research findings that these companies have implemented ESG activities in a substantive manner, demonstrating strong commitment to sustainable development. A number of solutions were proposed to strengthen ESG practices within the plastics industry, including: developing a circular economy model, applying biotechnology, producing green products, investing in renewable energy, and mobilizing green financial resources.
