Compensation for damage caused by livestock under the 2015 Civil Code
Abstract
The paper develops a concept of livestock and analyses the characteristics of livestock, contributing to the appropriate determination of the grounds for compensating the damage caused by animals in general and livestock in particular. It analyses and assesses the provisions on compensation for damage caused by livestock under the 2015 Civil Code. It also points out cases where livestock cause the damage (with or without the management of human beings), establishing the grounds for defining the subjects who are responsible for compensation. It finally offers some recommendations for improving Article 603 of the 2015 Civil Code in particular and the law in general.
