This study aims to find out the effectiveness of mind mapping strategy in teaching English speaking at The People’s Police College II. Data were collected from a questionnaire given to the 40 students. The research will start by observing the process of teaching and learning English in the class especially speaking section, which is an important section in English learning of the students. Then the researcher will conduct the survey and semi-structured interview students to understand and evaluate the motivation of the students as well as the interest of the students in learning English. The results show that the use of mind mapping strategy is effective to improve students’ speaking ability. Based on the questionnaire result, it showed that almost all of the students showed positive response toward the use of mind mapping. They liked studying English speaking by using mind mapping strategy. In other words, the students responded positively in learning English speaking by using mind mapping strategy.
