This process of data gathering about students’ needs, desires, and deficiencies, and its subsequent interpretation for the creation of a more student-centric syllabus, is termed as a needs analysis. Undertaking a needs analysis process prior to a language course aids in designing suitable materials or modifying existing ones to address any inconsistencies.
