Abstract

In this study, the peony leaf extract was performed under suitable conditions to extract the optimal extraction solution as a reducing agent for the synthesis of ZnO nanopowder materials. The methods for characteristic measuring of ZnO materials have been investigated such as XRD, SEM, EDX, solid UV-Vis and reflectance spectra. The Kubelka-Munk method was used to determine the band gap (Eg) of ZnO nanopowder materials. The study results show that the ZnO fabricated samples in the form of single phase wurtzite ZnO crystals. The ZnO samples were all crystalline in the form of plates except for the ZnO sample with the red peony leaf extract of 50 ml, which obtained crystal crystallization in the form of nanorods (with the length of rod ~5-6 µm and the width of rod ~0.5-1 µm). The band gap (Eg) of fabricated ZnO samples achieved in the range of 3.27-2.87 eV which was smaller than that of bulk ZnO materials.
