Abstract

During the years 1941 - 1945, Tran Van Giau and his colleagues promoted the process of gathering, building and developing revolutionary forces in Southern Vietnam towards seizing power in the August Revolution of 1945. Using two main research methods: historical method and logical method, the research results have clearly shown the important role and contributions of Cochinchina Regional Committee Secretary Tran Van Giau in the victory of the August Revolution in Saigon and Southern Vietnam. The research results also show that it is the dynamism and revolutionary creativity with the spirit of initiative, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility before the Party and the nation of Tran Van Giau and Cochinchina Regional Committee that led the speedy revolution which was like a “race against time” to have miraculous success. At the same time, in the process of revolutionary campaigning towards seizing power in Southern Vietnam, there were also many lessons learned about revolutionary leadership and direction that still retain value to present.
