SOLO TRAVEL TRENDS AND SOLO TRAVEL NEEDS AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE: A STUDY IN DA NANG CITY
Abstract
Solo travel is becoming a prominent trend, especially in the post-Covid-19 context, as travelers seek more personalized and free experiences. This study surveyed 482 individuals aged 18-30 in Da Nang to clarify the advantages, challenges, and needs associated with solo travel. The results show that solo travel is becoming popular among young people due to freedom, flexibility, and opportunities for self-discovery. Most trips are short-term with average costs under 5 million Vietnamese dong. However, the main barriers include concerns about personal safety, feelings of loneliness, and social stigma pressures. The study also highlights key needs such as detailed destination information, safety support services, and local cultural experiences. Consequently, the research proposes solutions to better support and capitalize on this travel trend. The paper suggests future research on technological solutions to support solo travelers, such as mobile applications or online platforms that facilitate connection, information sharing, and reduce security concerns.
