ASSESSMENT OF LAND-USE MODELS AND EFFICIENCY ASSESSMENT OF THE CONVERT OF RICE VARIETY TO TEA FARMING IN PHU LUONG DISTRICT, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Abstract

Agricultural land use diversion an important role in creating agricultural products. In recent years, the use of agricultural land in Phu Luong district has been strongly transformed in the direction of increasing efficiency. In this study was conducted with the purpose of assessing the situation and economic - social - environmental efficiency, focusing principally on two groups of land for rice and tea farming. In recent years, the tea growing area in Phu Luong district is expanding very fast, the area of tea farming expansion is mainly converted from rice cultivation land. The study has been statistics in the period of 2010 - 2017 in the whole district, there was about 264 ha converted to the tea plantation. The research has used household survey questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of agricultural land use in three typical communes with large areas of conversion to tea cultivation, including Yen Lac, Tuc Tranh, and Vo Tranh communes. Research results in the area have 5 main types of land use corresponding to 9 types of land use. The evaluation results indicated that the types of land use for high economic efficiencies such as tea, spring rice-winter rice-winter vegetables contributed to poverty reduction and labor attraction. Thus, the result of the effective evaluation is the basis for the direction of the future effective use of agricultural land in the locality.
