STUDENT AWARENESS EDUCATION IN THE AREA OF DORMITORY OF THE THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCES ABOUT THE RESTRICTED USE OF PLASTIC BAGS

Abstract

The large number of students concentrated in Dormitory of Thai Nguyen University in general and the University of Sciences in particular have generated significant amount of waste, especially plastic bags. Besides, a great number of students are not fully aware of the classification and disposal of garbage in the prescribed places, protecting the environment. The "Student awareness education in the area of dormitory of the Thai Nguyen University of Sciences about the restricted use of Plastic Bags" was implemented in order to raise awareness and change their habits, towards a reduction in the use of plastic bags. The main activities of the program include: Organizing presentations, filming and screening of documentary films, organizing games, contests, fashion shows, hanging banners and posters. Results from the survey show that the number of students who are aware of the restricted use of Plastic Bags has increased from 39% to 60%.
