Abstract

Charcoal was fabricated from soybean residue by carbonization using activating agent of zinc chloride. Some factors affected to absorption capacity of it was investigated. The experiments for studying the absorption were carried out with some parameters: the absorbent mass of 0.05 g/25 mL; shaking rate of 200 rounds/min; time for absorption equilibrium of 90 mins at room temperature (25±1 oC); Optimal pH for absorption of 2.0. The temperature range of 303 ÷ 323K, the absorption of Cr (VI) onto the absorbent is chemical absorption. By investigating the absorption using Langmuir adsorption isothermal model showed that the maximum adsorption capacity to Cr (VI) was 37.04 mg/g at 298K.
