Abstract

In the  period of 1975-1989, the Khmer Rouge had horrific crimes for Cambodia and Vietnam. So that, the Vietnamese army was forced to fight to protect the country and had international obligations in Cambodia. However, there have been many misrepresentations on this issue, affecting Vietnam's position in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to understand and revise this historical period to make an objective assessment. One of the Buddhist’s armies (Vietnam) which significantly assisted the Cambodian’s revival was the An Giang’s  military forces conducting international obligations in Ta Keo (1979-1989). By historical and logical methods, we recap An Giang army's feats of the Pol Pot army in Ta Keo. Besides, An Giang army also help Ta Keo province to restore military, political, economic and social aspects in Ta Keo province. Ta Keo, which was being drastically devastated by the Khmer Rouge, has became a province with striking developments in various sectors. With these historical facts, the research contributes to the affirmation of  the legitimacy of An Giang’s military forces and Vietnam in the southwestern border war)... In addition, this is a resource for reference and teaching local history.
