Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the antibiotic susceptibility of 168 isolated Streptococcus suis (S. suis) strains and experiment on antibiotic treatments to pigs infected by arthritis and pneumonia in Thai Nguyen. Study ussing antimicrobial techniques with 12 antibiotics currently licensed in Vietnam, with the dosage and usage as recommended by the manufacturer. Thereby, selecting 03 kinds of high sensitive antibiotics, combined with other supporting medicines, formulating 3 antibiotic treatments and conducting experiments on pigs infected by arthritis and pneumonia raised in Phu Binh district and Pho Yen Town area. Results of antibiotic susceptibility experiments showed that isolated S. suis strains were highly susceptible to cefiofur, florfenicol, amoxicillin, ampicicllin and resistant to erythromycin, colistin, neomycin and penicillin G. Of 03 antibiotic treatments, treatment 1 (Cefanew-LA) using ceftiofur had the best results and the highest treatment effects.
