RESULTS OF LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY TO TREAT ACUTE APPENDICITIS AT VO NHAI DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the results of laparoscopic surgery for acute appendicitis at Vo Nhai District Health Center, Thai Nguyen province. A descriptive method withcross-sectional design was conducted with 88 patients, of which there was 51.1% men,  patients’ average age was 35.4 years old (min age: 16 years old, max age: 60 years old); the patients’ appendix was in the normal position (93.2%); congestive appendicitis (38.6%); appendicitis with pseudomembranous (35.2%); purulent appendicitis (25%); broken appendix (1.2%); open surgery (2.3%); the average surgery time of 47.04 minutes; wound infection (2.3%); The time for painkillers after surgery was respectively 01 day (33.0%), 2 days (63.6%) and 03 days (3.4%). And the time for antibiotics after surgery was 3 days (31.4%), 5 days (51.2%) and 7 days (17.4%). The average time of being in hospital was 5.1 days (4-7 days). The results got as the following: good: 84 patients (97.7%), medium: 02 patients (2.3%). Laparoscopic surgery for treatment of acute appendicitis is safe and effective with high aesthetics, and can be applied well for uncomplicated appendicitis with high percentage of good results. Laparoscopic surgery for treatment of acute appendicitis can be widely applied in hospitals at the grassroots level.
