CLINICAL AND SUBCLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PRETERM INFANTS TREATED AT THE THAI NGUYEN GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

The study is  to  describe some clinical and subclinical characteristics of preterm infants treated at the Thai Nguyen General Hospital. Descriptive and cross-sectional method were used on 162 infants under 37 weeks of gestation from July 2019 to June 2020. The results showed that 48.1% boys, 51.9% girls, The rate of boys/girls:1/1; 78.4% of preterm infants 32-<37 weeks gestation; 21.6% of preterm infants < 32 weeks gestational. There were 93.8% of preterm infants had respiratory failure (62.9% type II respiratory failure; 21.0% type III respiratory failure, 9.9% type I respiratory failure); 100% of extremely preterm birth were hypothermia; 56.0% of very premature birth were hypothermia, 16.5% premature birth were hypothermia (p<0.05); Average glucose: 3.03 ± 3.39; 100% of extremely preterm birth had hypoglycemia; 74.2% of very pretermature birth had hypoglycemia, 50% premature birth had had hypoglycemia (p <0.05). Averge Albumin 31.4 ± 3.67; 100% of extremely preterm birth had hypoalbuminemia, the weight at birth more increases, the lower the rate of hypoalbuminemia decreases (p <0.05). It should be noted the younger the gestational age, the higher the rate of hypothermia, respiratory failure, blood glucose and albumin levels of preterm infants vary widely to have timely treatment to limit mortality in preterm infants.
