THE PORK PRODUCTION – SUPPLY CHAIN IN LAM DONG PROVINCE

Abstract

The study was conducted in three localities which had the most developing pig production in Lam Dong province to describe the pork production – supply chain. The participants in the chain were interviewed directly through a semi-structured questionnaire at 162 farms, 23 slaughterhouses, 31 markets, one supermarket, 27 restaurants, hotels, and with 40 traders. The studied results showed that the pork production and supply chain in Lam Dong province was relatively complex with many different actors and was not strictly linked. However, Lam Dong province had the right conditions for the establishment of the short pork production - supply chain in the locality that was 87.5% of slaughter facilities directly purchasing pig and distributing pork.
